Aussie Curves - Retro

If there is one thing I'm good at, it's looking 'retro' or 'vintage'. I could've gone one of a few ways about this weeks challenge but I had worn this outfit a few weeks back when it was super cold purely for this weeks challenge (look at me pre planning these things haha), so I had to take the 'rockabilly/retro' path rather than my newfound love for 60's/70's psychedelic outfits.

I'm not one to follow any kind of fashion rules, and I especially don't follow the rules of what fat girls should and shouldn't wear because I like to be a chameleon with my clothes and I guess I like to play a character with each outfit I put on. My partner thinks I just cant make up my mind when it comes to which style I want to make my own but all I can think is why do I have to just have ONE style. It may work for some people but my feelings towards fashion is so erratic, I cant stick to just one because I'm obsessed with them all!

What I said about not following fashion rules, I stand by that BUT that being said, there should be one legit rule made for short women and it should be "At any chance you can get, wear a short skirt". I think short skirts make everyones image of themselves a lot cuter especially when you're a short woman like I am because it makes my legs feel heeeeaaaapppps longer! I'm 5'3 and my partner is 6'7 so I will forever look short standing next to him but at least when I'm wearing a short skirt I feel taller. That may sound really dumb, but whatever, it makes sense.

Isn't this bag the coolest thing?! It just reminds me of Japan and the 90s and I needed it in my life ASAP. It only fits the necessities but what it lacks in room, it makes up for in cute and kitschyness.

I hope you cats enjoyed the post and I cant wait for next weeks challenge!

Aussie Curves - Stripes

I'm not gunna lie, I've been saving this post for a few weeks for this challenge. What began as a simple spring outfit turned into a technicolour party!

I've been feeling very flat lately with my outfits. Just very boring and not what I used to be. I was looking at old photos and just reminiscing but not really doing anything about changing myself back to the old me with all my outgoing and carefully structured outfits. When I was getting ready I put this dress on and I was just going to wear it with leggings and a black cardigan and that would've been that. But then I thought back to when I bought the dress. We were in Italy and it was a hot day and I only had winter clothes and nothing summery fit me so I had to hunt for something in my size that was cheap and not shit looking (Just like I have to hunt here, but faster because I didn't want bad outfits in my holiday photos haha). I found this dress and wore it just with a furo green bracelet and sandals. So when I put it on again now I thought, 'Where did all my cute go?...'. I started with the tights and then it all just snowballed. I felt so cute once I was done. I haven't felt that cute and so 'like myself' in a long time.

I had no reason to go out so I just took myself out on a date to Savers where I found the most amazing vintage dresses. Its not often I find more than 1 great vintage dress in the one place but I found 4! 4 plus size vintage brightly coloured dresses! Im pretty sure you can just imagine how excited I was haha

To end the day I sat in the park in the city and ate sushi and read my book. It was so peaceful and I just felt like i was back to normal again.

Bright days

I try to not wear sunglasses in photos because the photo ends up creeping me out a bit because you cant see my eyes but I just couldn't see at all because it was so bright!

We had a very lazy day and just faffed around for the day and took Fonzie for a walk and a bath. We usually get a dog groomer to neaten his hair up but it was costing more than all our haircuts! When we took him to the dog wash station at our local car wash we were all kind of nervous because we had no idea how it worked. We got set up and Fonzie got washed but we all basically did anyway haha There was water everywhereeeeee!

We dried him off and walked back home and picked some flowers. Fonz needed one in his hair because he's my little princess :)

When we got home we were all super lazy and napped the day away.

Uni Open Day

So Sam and I went to a Uni Open day a few weeks back and this is what I wore. I've been trying to figure out what I want to do with my life and I still have no idea. Right now all I want to do is have a baby and be a mum. Is that bad? I don't have any career goals aside from wanting to raise my children. I feel so ready and clucky. I may sound like a bit of a git, but whatever. I can't wait to be a mum.

Aussie Curves - Feminine

So I'm super late to the game, but here is my first ever Aussie Curves post!  I've delated posting this for a while because I was trying to figure out how to actually sort out all these links but I think I've got it haha

I've had this dress for maybe 5 years now and can you believe this is the first time I've actually worn it. I got it on eBay way back when and it fit perfectly. Just like it was made for my body. But as the years have come and gone my weight has gone up and down and now its become more of a snug fit but it still makes me feel 'womanly'. This dress makes me feel like a woman in the 60s starting to feel a revolution or something.

I recently bought some new boots from Autograph because my old ones have fallen apart. My old boots were by Autograph as well and have been with me all around the world. I had only had them two years but I wore the shit out of them and I'm honestly surprised I hadn't destroyed them sooner haha
The new boots are more pointy than the old ones and I'm not too much of a fan of that but they just look really sleek and were $50 on sale so I just couldn't resist. When I put them on with this outfit, its like they were made for it. I seriously felt like a go-go dancer with them on with this dress

Sam and I went out for tea and I felt a little out of place (I always feel out of place where we live anyway), but then I thought fuck it, I'm fabulous and fancy as hell. So I proceeded to order the girliest cocktail on the menu. ;)

Dork in a car sweater

Met up with my gals last week for a belated birthday breakfast and some cupcake eating. Its been so bloody windy and cold in Melbourne lately. This is the only photo where my skirt hadn't blown up from the wind. I'm the worst when it comes to photos with my friends. I'm too busy having giggles and chatting to take photos of anything (for the most part), so I don't really have any photos from the actual day. We had a late breakfast down Degraves St and it was mega crowded then we got cupcakes and had to split from there.

Tay got me these adorable little arrow earrings! I'm in love.

I've got to post my outfit pics from my actual birthday but I seem to have lost them in the vast expanse of folders I have on my computer... I'll get back to that when I find them haha

Bonjour!

It was far too cold to take a photo outside so my bedroom wall will have to do. We went to DFO to do some shopping and I haven't worn this jumper in foreverrrrrrr. When putting this jumper on I realised that I always buy jumpers in smaller sizes (well, they're just the largest sizes that the straight sized stores sell) and they always don't fit like they were intended to. On me they end up being crop sweaters which (for the most part is just how I like 'em)

Oh, and... I FOUND TWINKIES! Oh man! you don't understand how excited I was! Granted, they were $3 each but hey, I can justify that for rare American imported treats. It made me want to fly back to America and go back to Brooklyn and eat them in Vineapple Cafe while typing up a thesis or something on my laptop.

Kitengi felt she needed to be included in this post too. She's spending more and more time upstairs and is sleeping on our bed again which is excellent. She's acting like a little kitten lately and is really into taking selfies haha

Hollywood Costume

Last week I caught up with a friend from Sydney. It turned out to be cold and windy and pretty overcast which was sucky but that didn't stop us from having some fun in the city! We had lunch at my fave Japanese place in the city and didn't shut up for ages haha we had quite a lot to catch up on.

After lunch we treated ourselves to cupcakes and coffee at Little Cupcakes down Degraves St. Then head to the Hollywood Costume Exhibition.

I was so bummed that we couldn't take any photos! The people inside the exhibition were patrolling the floor and were keeping an intense eye on everyone making sure not one photo was taken (I'm sure some people would've slipped through and taken some gems but we were fairly unlucky in that department.). There were so many iconic costumes! I was honestly not expecting as many costumes to be shown. It was magnificent. We arrived fairly late in the day so we didn't have as much time as I'd have liked to study everything but nevertheless it was fantastic. If anyone is keen to check it out, its open for another week at ACMI in Federation Square.
